Came out feeing refreshed and envigorated after our twilight delight! We went for the twilight package. It was a great experience and the spa lived up to my expectations. It was busier than I thought it was going to be. We were there on 2nd January though so maybe there were quite a few people who had received a gift voucher for Christmas or people who were still on holiday. It was quite cold up on the roof and there seemed to be lots of couples cuddling.
I loved the steam rooms. Really good facilities and well-laid out and designed.
Hello, can we help you find something?
And thats it. The steam rooms are good but not very hot - there are 4 all at the same temperature. No sauna either. So I found it quite expensive for what you get but there's not a lot of competion. We visited the spa as part of our hotel package and i must say anyone who has actually experienced mineral springs anywhere else in the world will be thoroughly dissappointed. This is nothing more than a heated pool, and the chlorine in the water - the fumes alone made my eyes water! This chlorination completely destroyed any theraputic effect from the water itself, and when we asked the staff, he admitted that the water is chlorinated.
He found it quite amusing that we asked! The steam rooms are ok, but the scents I suspect are not actually extracted natural oils, but chemical "smells". I am no expert, but have been to numerous thermal springs in New Zealand, Japan and Australia, and this did not compare to the lowliest of them. We too found it impossible to book any treatments. Not really a spa experience at all. Only just discovered that you can review the Spa on this site so had to add my bit! I tried to book 4 months in advance for treatments and couldn't believe how difficult it was.
Its easier to get an answer from the Inland Revenue than book a facial here. Lacklustre, uninformed staff although they know what they CAN'T offer you However, finally giving up on booking direct and forgoing the chance of any treatments, I booked a four hour package through our hotel Paradise Hotel which include transport to and from, bathrobes and slippers, mini Molton Brown toiletries and even a bottle of mineral water!
Once there it was fine - very interesting certainly and worth the novelty factor. Not great as 'spa's go think Chewton Glen but I loved the layout, pools and people watching! If I had a cold, it would have cured it! My favorite room was the sandalwood room, which was soothing. I met back up with Laura on the ground floor for a soak in the Minerva Bath.

I found her laying back in the massage jet whirlpool with a look of bliss on her face. The columns within the pool complex reminded us of the Roman bath complex just up the street.

We found groups of ladies socializing in the Minerva Bath just as visitors have done for hundreds of years. The restaurant is kept at a warm temperature, so we need not have worried about being cold in our robes.
We started with the pan seared halloumi with sweet potato puree, which was divine. I had the Thermae Ceasar salad with chicken and Laura had the Thai chicken curry.
However, this may be a cultural difference. Our previous European spa visits in Germany and Andorra are all about this same temperature. Visiting the Thermae Bath Spa is nothing short of a royally relaxing experience. Seven days a week from Reservations are absolutely critical, especially if you visit on the weekend, which is peak time. We were the guests of the Thermae Bath Spa. As always, all opinions of the warm and relaxing are our own.
